There is a new accelerator in town.  Formed in late 2015, makerSeed is an innovative accelerator program exclusively for hardware startups.  The 501(c)(3) nonprofit program will be based in Dallas, TX and partner with local universities, vendors, manufacturers, and industry experts as team mentors.

The program will disrupt the traditional equity, VC, and valuation driven accelerator model by funding founders without equity in exchange.  Instead, successful companies will share a small percentage of sales with the program.  In lieu of focusing on raising VC rounds or finding an exit, startups can build real companies with direct sales into partner channels and valuations based on revenue.

The program plans to target a local Dallas university campus on which to pilot the program and prove the model concept in Q1 2017.
